Dong Thap is a peaceful countryside destination in southern Vietnam, known for its flower-growing villages and traditional crafts. This trip offers a chance to experience simple rural life and support local communities through hands-on cultural activities.

Follow this 2-day journey through the land of heritage to better understand the culture and daily life of Southern Vietnam’s ethnic communities.

DAY 1: SA DEC – HUYNH THUY LE ANCIENT HOUSE – FLOWER VILLAGE – DINH YEN MAT VILLAGE

Our guide will welcome you in Sa Dec City, where we begin the day with a local breakfast – Sa Dec rice noodle soup.

  • Visit the Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House, a 128-year-old home combining Eastern and Western architecture, and famously featured in the novel The Lover by French writer Marguerite Duras.

  • Explore Kien An Cung Pagoda, a beautiful Chinese-style temple built by the local Hoa community.

  • Ride an electric cart through the heart of Sa Dec Flower Village, a century-old village growing over 3,000 types of tropical plants. Meet local growers and see how flowers are cultivated year-round.

Lunch is served on a floating raft restaurant by the Tien River, with local specialties.

In the afternoon:

  • Travel to Dinh Yen Mat Weaving Village, a national heritage craft village in Lap Vo District.

  • Visit Dinh Yen Communal House, over 100 years old, and learn about its historical and spiritual importance.

  • Experience hands-on traditional mat-making activities: cutting reeds, drying, dyeing, and weaving.

  • Interact with artisans and enjoy a 3D setup of mat fields, drying yards, and reed dyeing kilns.

Choose your activity path:

  • Join folk games (jumping sack, blindfold pot breaking, ring toss…) and check-in at the artistic mat-weaving installation.

  • Or enjoy Don Ca Tai Tu (Southern folk music), explore the filming set of the movie Face Off 6, and take pictures.

From 4 PM to 6 PM:

  • Enjoy traditional music and performances at the communal house.

  • Watch and try mat-weaving with local artisans.

  • Join children’s folk singing and poetry sessions.

  • Browse OCOP products, handmade reed souvenirs, and local specialties.
