Volunteering for English training for local communities on Community based Tourism in Hoang Su Phi, Ha Giang

Established in 2014, the Centre for Rural Economy Development (CRED) works with a range of local communities and beneficiaries i)To enhance and improve household and community access and benefits from inclusive and sustainable growth across the agriculture sector in Vietnam and the region; ii) To support poor and disadvantaged communities in their efforts to improve their living conditions in a sustainable manner; and iii) To advocate for coherent ODA support and development policies, responsive to the needs of poor and disadvantaged communities, women, children and men.

CRED is implementing a 4 year Community Based Tourism (CBT) project in Ha Giang and Cao Bang provinces to help local communities to improve their livelihood, sanitation condition and preservation of traditional cultural identities. CRED is looking for 2 volunteers to provide English training for local communities at CBT sites in Hoang Su Phi. The training will focus on tourism related topics and verbal communication with active training methodology. CRED will cover the travel cost on site, accommodation, food allowance and incentives.

Main tasks:

  1. Prepare training program, training curriculum, training tools and methodology
  2. Conduct English training at CBT sites

Training period:

The length of the course could be flexible based on the schedule of volunteers, however it should be at least 2 months training and could be extended up to 6 months.

Venue:

At selected CBT villages, Hoang Su Phi district, Ha Giang province

Delivered results:

  • Participants are capable of basic communication with visitors, especially on tourism related topic
  • Training curriculum

Competencies

  • Excellent English speaking ability
  • Experiences in English teaching is an advantage
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
