Nguom Ngao Cave

Back

This immense cave with a total length of 2144m is located just next to Ban Gioc waterfall. Discovered in 1921 tourists can visit the cave since 1996. Together with the waterfall, Nguom Ngao cave is one of the main attractions of Cao Bang. The cave can be comfortably explored by foot on paths and you do not need any special equipment. Inside you can admire many jaw-dropping caverns filled with delicate formations of stalactites and stalagmites and the occasional bat flying around. In the language of Tay ethnic minority «Nguom Ngao» means cave of tigers. Their legend tells that the cave was inhabited by ferocious tigers in the past but locals have set up traps to kill them.
